Instituto de Telecomunicações with the University of Aveiro are hosting
Aveiro Space Week, a summer school running from September 9th to 13th. This
program offers students the chance to develop expertise in earth
observation, targeting those enrolled in master’s programs or in the final
year of their undergraduate studies.

The summer school features two distinct tracks: hardware and software. In
the hardware track, participants will gain foundational knowledge in
developing equipment for remote sensing and communications. The software
track focuses on teaching the basics of data analysis and app development,
with the ultimate goal of preparing participants for the NASA Apps Challenge
in October.

The event will also feature a lineup of distinguished experts in the field,
including a special appearance by NASA astronaut John Daniel "Danny" Olivas.
Having participated in two NASA missions (STS-117 and STS-128) and conducted
three spacewalks, Danny Olivas will share insights from his experiences in
space and his work in aerospace engineering.


Aveiro Space Week is part of the NewSpace agenda under the Recovery and
Resilience Plan (PRR) and also includes the promotion of the international
“World CanSat Rocketry Championship (WCRC)” competition.
