The Quantum Communications group is organizing the Workshop
<https://it.pt/Events/Event/5646> "Quantum Communications in Free Space" and
the Summer School  <https://it.pt/Events/Event/5648> “Quantum Communication
& Space” in the scope of PTQCI – Portuguese Quantum Communication
Infrastructure project.

 

The workshop will focus on quantum communications in free space, including
satellite-to-earth communications, which are crucial for the development of
a future global quantum network. It will cover new protocols and
experimental work, featuring contributions from national and international
experts. This event aims to foster knowledge exchange and provide a unified
perspective on the subject. The Summer School is designed to empower
university students and young professionals with cutting-edge insights into
quantum technology and space exploration.

 

The workshop will take place on September 9-10, 2024, at Instituto de
Telecomunicações (Amphitheatre Abreu Faro), located within Instituto
Superior Técnico (IST) in Lisbon. The Summer School will be hosted by
Instituto Superior Técnico, Tagus Park – Oeiras, on September 11-12, 2024. 

 

For the workshop, researchers and experts in the field are invited to
present their latest work. The call for posters and talks is open until

PTQCI is a consortium dedicated to developing and deploying quantum
communications in Portugal, aligned with the EuroQCI – European Quantum
Communications Network initiative. This initiative aims to establish quantum
secure communications across Europe in the coming years. The consortium
includes universities and research centers such as Instituto de
Telecomunicações, ISEL, and IST, national bodies like GNS, IPQ, and FCCN,
industrial entities such as Deimos, Adyta, Omnidea, and Warpcom, and
telecommunications companies including IP Telecom and Altice Labs.
