No entanto, durante a pandemia, essa confiança foi desafiada, uma vez que a ausência de soluções imediatas levou a uma diminuição dos níveis de confiança na ciência.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=PT><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=PT>A pesquisa, que envolveu cerca de 71.922 participantes, revelou que, na maioria dos países, há um nível considerável de confiança nos cientistas, embora os cientistas devam reforçar o seu envolvimento com a sociedade, participando ativamente no desenvolvimento de políticas. Não obstante, essa confiança apresenta variações entre países, frequentemente relacionadas com fatores políticos.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=PT><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=PT>Mesmo que não haja uma desconfiança generalizada na ciência, é preocupante que a falta de confiança, mesmo entre uma pequena minoria, possa comprometer a aceitação da evidência científica na formulação de políticas públicas. As descobertas do estudo têm implicações relevantes para cientistas e decisores políticos que procuram manter e fortalecer essa confiança. <o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=PT><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=PT>Segundo o estudo, o grau de confiança nos cientistas em Portugal e na comunicação de ciência, situa-se – numa escala de 1 a 5 – <a href="https://www.nature.com/articles/s41562-024-02090-5/figures/1">em 3.57</a>, colocando-se mais ou menos a meio da lista dos países auscultados. Foram encontrados níveis mais elevados de confiança entre vários grupos demográficos: mulheres, pessoas mais velhas, residentes em áreas urbanas (em comparação com as rurais), pessoas com rendimentos elevados, pessoas religiosas, pessoas com maior nível de educação, pessoas liberais e indivíduos com inclinação política à esquerda.<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span lang=PT><o:p>
