I am a 4th year PhD student at Instituto Superior Técnico, Technical University of Lisbon, under supervision of Prof. Mário Figueiredo and Prof. José Bioucas-Dias. My current research is on estimating the number of pure materials in pharmaceutical mixtures of unkown composition, their spectral near infrared signatures and the corresponding abundance fractions, combining supervised and unsupervised methods. This is particularly important for fighting counterfeiting operations producing a huge variability of fake drugs, with severe impacts on population health.
