1) Is there any STSM that has happened or has been scheduled since our last meeting?

We are about to submit an STSM application for bringing a researcher from TUT to Holografika by the end of March. Not sure if a publication will come out of this, as we mainly target exploration of our needs, and how it matches with what they have.




 2) Is there any ongoing work between the members that may result in some outcomes for this core group?

A master student at TUT (a different person) is currently working on some experiments with my guidance, targeting random access for encoded light-field sequences. We expect some papers later this year.
Apart from this, we have recently contributed light-field test material for supporting the MPEG FTV activities on super-multiview and free-viewpoint television coding / view synthesis, and plan to follow up on these activities.
We are also contributing to the emerging JPEG Pleno activity.




Furthermore, one of the planned outcomes is to write a joint paper on “Trends and challenges on 3D visual coding”. As our first action, I would very much appreciate if you could send me, by the middle of next week, topics that you are able to contribute to, so that we can define a table of content for this paper.

I can write something about the topics listed above. (MPEG FTV, JPEG Pleno, as well as the research we are pursuing at Hol and TUT on these matters).
